26: Tallinn, Estonia
We
designed our own shore excursion, which is to say we took a shuttle
bus to the Old Town, and walked around.
Our
first sight was this pair of gate towers, which are from the 15th
century.
The whole area felt very medieval, including a horse-drawn
carriage, rumbling over the cobblestones. We did go into a sidewalk cafe, and asked the waiter for decaf coffee. He looked at us blankly, and asked, "Decaf? What is that?" We chuckled, and left. This disappointment notwithstanding, the time in Tallinn was very enjoyable.
Nan and someone she met in Tallinn
When we got back to the cruise ship pier, we found this monster that had docked next to us.
Our ship holds 382 passengers, and is a really nice small town.
This thing is is a metropolis -- it holds somewhere in the vicinity of 3000 passengers.
What a monster!
